The Sentier d'Art: unusual hike in nature

Art trails

The purpose of this page is not to duplicate the Condroz Famenne Tourist Office website but to make you want to discover the diversity of nature in our region while encountering works of art on your way.

Our guest rooms are located on the route of the Sentier d'Art and we can, if you wish, offer you various services such as a room with full service for Sentier d'art hikers, or as an option the standard room, lunch packs, transport... We can also inform you about loops, help you prepare them, inform you about new features or points of attention... (hunts in progress, deviations, course modifications, etc.)

If you love long-distance hiking, nature and challenges, Sentiers d'Art is for you!

With its 150km of walks, this new experience takes you on a discovery of the stems and chavées, the characteristic landscape of the Condroz, in the form of corrugated iron. You will also touch the entrance to the Famenne and its large woods opening onto landscapes as far as the eye can see.

Over these 150kms, nearly 54 works of land'art (including 7 artistic shelters and 3 works of Street Art) await you in the heart of nature.

This exceptional hike crosses the towns of Assesse, Ciney, Gesves, Hamois, Havelange, Ohey and Somme-Leuze.

If, of course, the 150km perspective is aimed at experienced hikers, 18 small loops complete the Sentiers d'Art offer to offer the possibility of taking one or two-day walks and exploring the region differently. These loops, ranging from 3 to 50 km, offer you the possibility of walking with family or friends and then settling in the region to discover another tourist activity.

These 18 loops are not marked but they are detailed on the map (on sale at the price of 3€) or by downloading the circuits.

In addition to the sporting aspect, there is the cultural aspect. A week in residence (for artists) is organized in May. Belgian and international artists selected by a jury of professionals at the start of the year are packing their bags for 10 days in our beautiful region!

During this residency, they create on site, in the heart of nature. These works belong to the artistic movement of Land Art that appeared during the 1960s. The artist intervenes directly on the space and the components of the landscape and nature, with natural materials (branches, rocks, foliage, hay, etc.) and the installation evolves over time until its eventual biodegradation. It is therefore very often ephemeral works.
